Security Automation Engineer

Working closely with the Security Engineering, Security Operations, and App innovation Teams, the Security Automation Engineer will automate, improve, and streamline Transparity Cyber’s existing processes and pipelines, and drive forward new automation projects.

The Security Automation Engineer will report directly to the Technical Project Manager responsible for Business Automation (with a dotted line into Head of Security & Technical Lead App Innovation) but will work closely with the senior members of the Security Team for tasking and prioritisation of work.

The Security Automation Engineer will be an experienced automation engineer. In addition, will have exposure to Cyber Security processes, tooling, and frameworks. They must be able to re-evaluate the problem or requirement presented and offer a solution that results in improved productivity and efficiencies, time, and cost savings. All tasks performed by the Security Automation Engineer and code created must be secure by design.

Technical product knowledge and skills need to be accompanied by good written, verbal, and presentation skills to support the code creation and associated documentation. The ability to work independently, to manage their workload and prioritise the needs of the Security Team are key skills for the Security Automation Engineer.

Security Automation Engineer Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Technical Project Manager for Business Automation (with a dotted line into Head of Security & Technical Lead App Innovation), SOC Manager and work alongside the security team to convert established processes and workflows into automated processes \ pipelines.
  • Create new security-based workflows through automation.
  • Be accountable for the timely response and progression of automation projects.
  • Improve and develop SOAR capabilities within the Microsoft security stack (Azure Logic Apps).
  • Writing technical documentation to accompany code \ scripts.
  • Creation of CI/CD pipelines across various platforms.
  • The ability to design and build data storage solutions to enable the secure collection and storage of data to facilitate reporting and automation flows.
  • The Security Automation Engineer will be required to work flexibly at times to enable collaboration with our global team and/or customer requirements.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Kusto Query Language and PowerShell scripting languages required.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of ARM Templates or Bicep.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Azure Integration Services; Azure Logic Apps, Service Bus, Functions…
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of the Microsoft Security Graph and APIs.
  • Extensive experience with the Azure platform and PaaS products.
  • Extensive experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with version controls such as GIT.
  • Experience with Microsoft security products, specifically Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Experience with Power Platform; Power BI, Power Apps, a bonus but not required.
  • Experience with Python a bonus.
  • Front end application \ web design a bonus, but not required.
  • The ability to take a design brief or manual process and automate as much as possible.
  • Excellent technical document writing experience (code mark up, flow diagrams, playbook documentation).
  • Relevant industry certifications.
  • Self-motivated, and organised.
  • Ability to cope under pressure and prioritise work accordingly.
  • Ability to work to customer and internal deadlines.
