BizTalk Server Development

BizTalk Server provides the tools to securely connect to business applications, exchange data and manage workflows to automate their integration. It also offers speed to market, scalability and future-proofing for business-critical applications.

We provide expert services in the design, software development, deployment,  monitoring and consulting of BizTalk Server artifacts:

  • Schemas & Maps – BizTalk Server uses XML Schema Definition (XSD) to define the structure of the messages. 
  • Orchestrations – manages workflow and message flows between systems.
  • Pipelines – custom message handling services including managing non-standard message formats and encryption-decryption.
  • Send and Receive Ports – endpoints through which data is exchanged.
  • Adapters – used to connect directly to line-of-business systems such as SAP or from underlying data sources such as SQL Server or FTP. Custom adaptors are developed to support proprietary systems.
  • Business Rules Engine (BRE) – provides a version generic rules engine to support business rules that can be updated by business users.
  • Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) – all transactions can be monitored, and BAM acts as a miniature real-time Business Intelligence model to provide real-time monitoring.
  • Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment – Azure DevOps and BizTalk Deployment Framework (BTDF) provide for automated deployment.

BizTalk vs. Azure Integration Services

BizTalk Server was introduced in 2000 and for 20+ years it has been the foundation of systems integration for the Microsoft Platform and is still widely used by fortune 500 companies and other organisations of all sizes.

However the future of systems integration, as with software development generally, clearly lies in the cloud, and BizTalk Server will eventually be replaced by Azure Integration Services, which contains all the same features in a modern cloud environment and in the long-term is much more cost-efficient as no large updates are required.

Transparity recommends using Azure Integration Services for all new systems integration projects. We also have experience in migrating applications from BizTalk Server to Azure Integration Services, and so can assist with this as required.

The availability and performance of a large and complex healthcare management system is the foundation for 'end user service levels. CHT moved their development and support to Transparity at the beginning of the year and improved results have been immediate.

As AppCan’s client base expands, some users required specific functionality. In this case, AppCan was approached by an existing client – a large gas services company – looking for a development partner as it had won the delivery lead framework contract bid for London.

Cornerstone was in the process of implementing an IT system that would manage their entire estate (circa 21,000 sites). This system needed to contain all details of the estate and ensure a greater level of automation could be achieved between Cornerstone, its customers and suppliers.
