Project Overview
Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG), a leading German private equity firm, had been successfully using Microsoft Dynamics CRM for several years but wanted to modernise the platform and move to the cloud. The aim was to improve usability, provide secure mobile access and enhance reporting capabilities — while retaining the flexibility needed to support a specialised private equity operating model.
Working with Transparity, DBAG implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 in the cloud, using a private equity-specific accelerator to provide tailored functionality. With Power BI enabling real-time visualisation of performance data, DBAG now has a single, integrated view of its deal pipeline, fundraising activity and portfolio performance — delivered on time despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Challenge
DBAG had been successfully using Microsoft Dynamics CRM for several years but wanted to modernise the platform and move to the cloud. The aim was to improve usability, provide mobile access and enhance reporting capabilities.
The organisation also needed more advanced functionality, including a global search feature and richer insights across its deal pipeline and portfolio data.
“We were very satisfied with the platform but wanted to update the experience and move to a cloud solution so our users could securely access the system wherever they were working.” — Dennis Jankowski, Head of Risk Management, DBAG
After reviewing alternative CRM solutions, DBAG found that many were either too complex or lacked the flexibility needed to support a specialised private equity operating model.
The Solution
DBAG implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 in the cloud with support from Transparity, using a private equity-specific accelerator to provide tailored functionality.
The solution delivers a modern CRM platform with integrated deal flow management, investor information and reporting capabilities. Power BI enables real-time visualisation of performance data, supporting better decision making.
Transparity worked closely with DBAG to define requirements, structure the project and ensure a smooth implementation. The project covered all stages from planning and data migration through to testing, training and rollout.
Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was successfully delivered using remote collaboration and deployment methods.
“Transparity’s industry knowledge helped us refine our requirements and ensure the solution was aligned to our business needs.” — Dennis Jankowski, Head of Risk Management, DBAG
The Outcome
The new cloud-based system provides DBAG with a single, integrated view of its deal pipeline, fundraising activity and portfolio performance.
Data that was previously spread across different teams and systems is now centralised, enabling a fully digital, connected process from deal sourcing through to execution.
The investment team can now review deal ideas, pipeline progress and performance metrics in real time, improving collaboration and enabling faster decision-making.
“We can now identify opportunities much more quickly, which gives us a competitive edge in an industry where speed of response is critical.” — Dennis Jankowski, Head of Risk Management, DBAG
The platform also improves accessibility, allowing users to securely access CRM data from anywhere via mobile devices.
